Bad Apple Hair have the credit for taking me from natural darkest brunette to a striking lavender colour back in July (blog post here) and the team there are lovely. So I was excited to learn that there is now a Bad Apple Hair at Topshop Bullring. The salon is open seven days a week with late nights in line with the Topshop opening hours so this is definitely a salon that offers convenience as well as great quality service.

You can find the Bad Apple Hair salon upstairs on the first floor of Topshop and it’s in a private area so is not open to the shop floor, which I like. This isn’t a sub-standard salon; it is fully appointed and has plenty of stations for the team to get to work colouring, cutting and styling.

The salon is styled in the same way that other Bad Apple Hair salons are with their interior of black, white and bright green. The hospitality here is great with refreshments from beer to gin to coffee available so you can relax and make the most of your appointment.

I went for a blow dry in preparation for a few events and asked for my hair to be styled but not look it. That kind of effortlessly undone hair that cool people carry off with aplomb and I try to style out as much as possible before someone calls me an imposter.

My hair was washed in the basin and the conditioner was left on for a few minutes given the fragile state of my hair. I am missing the volume and thickness that my hair extensions gave me so my natural hair feels really fine in comparison. So a few Tigi products were used to prep my hair for my blow dry to provide the thickness, shine and texture I had requested.

My hair was blow dried smooth then tonged using the GHD curling tong and pulled into a messy style before being finished with spray. I like seeing how stylists create an undone look and Jack was using a rolling method that I hadn’t tried before but I like the effect.

The final touch had to be the ring light at the ready for a quick selfie to show off my gorgeous hairstyle. I love how the colour of my hair has been brought out by the styling and the products have not left my hair feeling heavy or sticky at all. I need to try to recreate this undone look again as it really is lovely for an effortless look on shoulder length hair.
