There are few occasions through the year when I need to find an outfit that is all out glamorous. I often browse black full-length dresses as they are timeless and work well for so many events. I found one that has fulfilled the gap in my wardrobe perfectly and it makes me feel very glam when I wear it. I’ve not ordered any occasion dresses from Quiz Clothing before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, this has been a wonderful find. The full-length black sparkling fabric has a little stretch so it fits beautifully on my petite frame.
I ordered a size six and had the hem shortened to accommodate my height. Nothing is more elegant than a perfect fit in my opinion, which is why I have a standing relationship with a local tailor. I think it is worth the investment on my petite frame and saves me money in the long term when it comes to finding good clothing that I can rely on year on year.
The off shoulder detail on this Quiz Clothing dress is so pretty. I love showing off my shoulders – the bardot trend is one of my favourites – so this dress caught my eye when browsing online. I didn’t know if the neckline would be flattering on me but I’m really pleased that I took a chance as I feel it looks great to elongate my neck.
On my birthday, I was lucky to be gifted a beautiful clutch bag from Coast by some friends. I absolutely love it. There is a good balance between aesthetics and practicality. The size and shape of the clutch mean that it can fit quite a lot inside including my phone, which is no small thing. Also, the glitter and gold details make this an ideal evening bag when there is low light as the extra sparkle catches the eye.
These burgundy heels are from Quiz Clothing too but are a few seasons old. I did consider whether I should wear black heels but I thought that a little bit of autumnal colour would suit this time of year. I like the way there are brief glimpses of burgundy when I walk when wearing these shoes.
I put my hair into a messy chignon inspired by the styles I created with Blow Ltd here. I love messy hair with glamorous outfits. I find having purple hair is a huge statement as it is. Styling it with such a glam outfit was a tricky balance so I did look on Instagram for some inspiration. In the end, I curled my hair and tried various ways of styling it and decided that something messy and undone suited my purple locks best.
So I’ve finally found my red carpet ready outfit. What do you think? Are you a fan of black evening dresses?
