I love my new Great Lengths hair extensions (read about them here) and have enjoying styling them after having a shorter hair style for such a long time. This prompted me to think about different summer hair ideas that I can now achieve with this longer length and the different occasions over the summer that I might need a little hair styling inspiration for.
First up, summer in the city means something quick to achieve, easy to do and preferably off my face and neck to help keep me cooler. So a messy bun with some backcombing and a little hairspray makes this hair style good for work or a day in town with friends. The great thing about a messy bun is that this style works better with hair that hasn’t been washed for a day or two.
For a holiday look that is pretty and chic, loose waves are the answer. This style will work well for day to night and has a lovely relaxed feel about it. I don’t like looking overly primped on holiday but I do want to be groomed so this summer hair style is ideal. Especially as it can be achieved through the use of curling tongs or by braiding your hair and leaving it overnight.
For a bit of festival fun, braids are the perfect hair style. I went for double Dutch braids with a flower crown because more is more. This is a cute style that will keep hair neat for hours (if not days if you fancy leaving the braids intact). I love this as it is a real time saver. Simply braid clean hair at the start of the weekend and enjoy until you get home and wash the festival out of your hair. And if your braids do unravel then you could always embrace the waves or create a messy bun.
Finally for a wedding, a trip to the races or a summer ball then a big, glamorous blow dry with lots of volume is the style to ask for. This kind of glossy blow dry is what I have missed most whilst having a shorter hair style. There’s nothing quite like a swishy blow dry to make me feel like I’m ready for a big event. I added a sparkly headband for some extra glam but you can add a fascinator, hat or hair clip depending on your personal taste.
